Shepherds Bush Road

DMWR Architects prepared a fully detailed planning application to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for the development of 28 high-quality residential flats and 2 townhouses on behalf of Lansdale Holdings.

The proposal included the demolition of existing car wash buildings, MOT garage and hardstanding to create a sympathetic development that spans between Shepherd’s Bush Road and two new townhouses on Bamborough Gardens.

What DMWR did

DMWR developed a contemporary and robust design for the new homes, ensuring they adhered to the latest residential design standards. The design aimed to make a positive contribution to the existing urban grain, while being sensitive to the adjacent Melrose and Shepherd’s Bush Conservation Areas.

These two adjoining conservation areas significantly influenced the design, particularly in terms of height, massing, and external expression. DMWR worked closely with the client and local authorities to ensure the proposal was well-received and met all planning requirements.

The Outcome

After a prolonged planning period, Hammersmith and Fulham granted planning permission.

The project was built out to DMWR's design, providing a high-quality, contemporary development that respected its surroundings and contributed positively to the character of the area.
