DMWR were appointed by Attic Self Storage to develop a new 95,000sqft self-storage facility and 35,000sqft industrial unit in Beckton, London. Following a successful Planning Application, DMWR’s involvement will be from feasibility through to delivery, RIBA workstages 0-6.

The site is set in an existing retail park context in the London Borough of Newham, north of London City Airport. The scheme went through Newham’s two-phase Pre-App process which focused on enhancing on-site landscaping and providing an unfussy and coherent design solution. Features of the design include consistent materiality and colour palette across both buildings; a roof fully covered in PVs to the industrial unit; a fully green roof to the storage unit which will include Attic’s logo in the planting scheme, visible from aircraft using City Airport.

The scheme has been wholly developed since the initial Covid-19 lockdown and therefore effectively designed from home. The completed development is expected to be finished during the first quarter of 2022.
